Vagelis Kolotsios is a comic artist and illustrator based in Athens, Greece. He holds a BA in Linguistics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MA in Cultural Informatics from the University of Aegean, and has additional studies in Digital Arts Forms from the Fine Arts School as well as Education and Human Rights from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has been working as a teacher for refugee children and adults in several refugee camps.
Kolotsios, as an artist, has participated in numerous comic and illustration festivals in Athens, Greece, and Rome, Italy. His comics serve as an experimental exploration of semiotics and ethnography, with a primary focus on highlighting refugees' alternative narratives within the social and political landscape. Through his work, he documents the lives of marginalised communities, both within and beyond the city of Athens, addressing broader societal issues.
