Dorottya Poór is a Budapest-based visual artist and educator with a background in painting, having graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2017. Over time, she has shifted focus toward visual storytelling and comics, with a strong emphasis on autobiographical fiction that narrates personal experiences through a critical, feminist lens. Last year, she published the first comic zine titled Baby through Hurrikan Press, and the next zine, tentatively titled Witches, is set to be released in May.
An active exhibiting artist, Poór currently has work featured in the group show C80 – AESTHETICS OF CANCER? at Semmelweis University’s Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research. Beyond solo projects, she engages in participatory art initiatives, most recently leading the Orczy Neighborhood Project, which used drawing and art as tools for empowerment in a stigmatized district of Budapest.
In addition to their artistic practice, Poór runs experimental drawing classes for adults, focusing on reigniting the joy of drawing in both beginners and experienced artists. She also holds regular feminist art workshops for Hungarian women’s rights organizations. As a graphic designer and illustrator, she primarily collaborates with NGOs and civil organizations, using art as a means for social impact.
